LESSONS FROM A RAINDROP...

Thousands of us together , cold and wet ,

We cling together, for courage and strength ,

Formed from water , cloud dust and ice ,

And many other things, not so nice ,

Each one anticipating, a future journey untold ,

After breaking free, from this closed world ,

Upon new paths , new experiences unfurled ,

A tiny drop of water, with responsibilities unplumbed ,

Facing hardships, as I embark on my mission ,

Focusing my eyes, on a blissful destination ,

Starting off by breaking away from my cloud-mates,

I begin a frightful fall, through fog and haze ,

But as I peer down, far below ,

I see the parched Earth, rejoice and glow ,

Earth dancing in anticipation of a shower to refresh ,

This gives me a feeling of joy and content ,

As I continue my downward flight ,

Besides me I behold a sparkling ray of light ,

Inviting it to come and dance with me ,

I embark upon a rainbow-making spree ,

Transform this ray to seven gorgeous hues ,

I turn it into a beauty ,so pure and new ,

Then I see people down there behold this sight ,

Their faces lighting up with sheer delight ,

Such momentary joys dispel a hundred woes ,

Giving me a happiness, a satisfaction untold ,

I continue my journey, approaching the thirsty soil ,

Welcomed by weary farmers, after months of hard toil ,

Plants and animals alike, look to me with expectations ,

Welcoming with smiles , eras of bountiful creation ,

My duty , my purpose to fulfill these expectations ,

With a thousand like-minded drops, I feel a great connection ,

Racing along the end of a journey, selfless yet rewarding ,

With my scorched Mother Earth, I feel a strange bonding ,

And then it happens , I hit parched ground ,

My mission accomplished, whole and sound ,

Trickle down to the roots of a budding seed ,

I’m lapped up, to sprout into a shiny new leaf ,

I reach the end, alone in pain ,

Yet happy and content for ringing in positive change ,

Such a selfless life from birth unto death ,

My human friends have lived , how many of you can claim ?
